Possible closure of Reykjanesbraut tonight

Those who have booked flights on the morning of New Year's Day are encouraged to pay close attention to umferdin.is and to airline flight schedules. The weather is expected to be bad in most places in the South and Southwest, including the capital area. Traffic will be slow and roads may be closed.
Everything will be done to try and keep Reykjanesbraut open as much as possible. If the road needs to be closed due to bad conditions then there will possibly be escorted driving on buses between the capital area and the airport.
The worst of the weather can be expected between 3am and 8am on New Year's morning. In Hellisheidi and Þrengsli the road may be closed some time between 6 and 9 o'clock. The weather will probably calm down in the morning of New Year's Day, but it can also be expected that the weather may worsen on the night of New Year's Day and into the afternoon on New Year's Day.
